Dad and Why I Started a Blog

I vowed never to blog.  Too much wasted time.

Why did I change my mind?  My friend Jo Ann Schneider-Farris has been blogging for a while and it seems like a good way to write a diary.  I love writing a  diary.  Today seems especially good to begin again.

My father-in-law, Mel Curtis, passed away on Sunday night at 10:15 PM.  I was very close to him, having been married to his son, Bruce, for almost 22 years.  I feel like I was given a gift.  You see, I had three earthly  fathers, all given to me in very natural ways.  My first father, Ben Malcolm,  died one day shy of my first birthday.  My second father was my adoptive Dad., James L. Ennis.   My third, was Mel Curtis.

I am privileged to have held Dad's hand to the end.  When he took his last breath, he then squeezed my hand to say, "Goodbye.  I will see you soon.."

God gave me the gift to be by his side.  I will never forget what God did for me these last two weeks, and on the day Dad went to Heaven.  I could not have remained by his side without Supernatural help.  I would have fallen to pieces.

The body is a funny thing.  It is like an old jacket.  Wear it now, discard it when it is worn out.  I am convinced of the God-given human spirit!  It brings life to the body and when the body is worn out, off  that spirit goes to another world we don't fully comprehend.  The familiar old  jacket is no longer necessary.  You can burn it, bury it, but it is not needed.

Bye Dad, see you soon! ---when my body wears out.  I love you.
